Why Dyno Tune?

	How does a Dyno work? In simple terms a dynamometer (hereafter referred to as a dyno) is a device that measures force and power, ie a measuring tool like your bathroom scales for example. It measures the force and power that the spinning wheels of your vehicle produces. Basically the dyno consists of two great big heavy drums hooked up to a computer. The wheels of your vehicle spins the dyno drums, and the computer measures the speed. The computer calculates the acceleration of the dyno drums by continuous measurements of their speed and the time. Force = Mass x Acceleration Force in the automotive world is called torque. Torque is the rotational force of a vehicle. Mass is how heavy something is without gravity. By spinning the dyno drums by accelerating the vehicle we are creating a "rotational" motion, together with the mass of the vehicle we are then able to calculate horsepower. The computer can also calculate and provide detailed measurements of engine power/torque, fuelling, intake temp, boost etc. A very basic thing you need to remember about Dyno’s is that although they are all calibrated similarly they all differ with their output figures, simply because the test conditions and procedures are so different. Never compare two Dyno graphs from different shops with each other, as this will certainly confuse you.

Every vehicle is different, even the same models with identical modifications require individual calibration. Custom dyno tuning enables us to tailor the calibrations specific to your vehicle.
