Circus Quirkus / Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise - 2010 This year the Rotary Club of Christchurch Sunrise is introducing a new event called 'Circus Quirkus' which is a non animal Circus spectacular guaranteed to amuse and delight both young and old.   'Circus Quirkus' is unlike any show that has been offered to intellectually handicapped or disadvantaged children before. Their aim is to provide a circus style entertainment that inspires fun and excitement, a show so full of energy and finesse that all who attend truly have their spirits lifted.   See the below link for more info   http://www.circusquirkus.com  or http://www.rotarysunrise.cjb.net/

Twin Rivers Classic Car Parade - Proceeds to The Canterbury Charity Hospital Trust - March 2010

The Twin Rivers Classic Car Parade is an auto extravaganza and family day with proceeds going to The Canterbury Charity Hospital Trust.  By attending, Kevin Geary Peformance will be contributing to the support of this Trust.

 

The Canterbury Charity Hospital Trust is a registered charitable trust formed to provide free, elective day surgery and medical consultations for some people in our Canterbury community who would otherwise not have access to such services.

Heart Children's Big Day Out Variety Show - 2010 & 2011

Heart Children New Zealand is the only charity dedicated to support children with heart defects and their families throughout New Zealand.  A congenital heart condition is the most common serious birth abnormality needing ongoing medical intervention.  Each week 12 children are born in New Zealand with a heart defect and every year 30-40 children lose their battle to survive.

By sponsoring this event it has allowed local children who would benefit from the opportunity to attend a fun packed show.  The extra bonus is that funds raised goes towards helping services for our heart children and their familiies too!  Heart Children New Zealand provides the children and their families with information, support, resources and equipment throughout New Zealand through the Family Support Network.  Many of these children and their families from throughout the country will at some stage spend time at the Starship Heart Unit in Auckland which is the only specialised paediatric cardiac unit in New Zealand.  Heart Children New Zealand provides support whilst in hospital that includes visits from the Family Support worker.

Kevin & Karen Geary recently had the support of Heart Children New Zealand directly, when their son was diagnosed with a congenital heart defect just 2 weeks prior to being born (01/10/10).  The support they received from Heart Children New Zealand was greatly appreciated and allowed them to focus on being strong for their son.

Angels For Children Trust

Each year Angels for Children Trust holds an annual local event for special needs and disadvantaged children from all over the region.  The children have a fantastic time with free movies, drink and food.  For many this is the only opportunity each to get a treat like this.   This year the funds raised will also be supporting the local Beckwith Wiedemann Support Group.  This is a genetic condition that principally is an internal organ overgrowth disorder that effects 1 in 15,000 children.
